Question of the day:
The internet has recently been swept up by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Is there a cause — social, political, cultural, or other — you passionately believe in? Tell us how you got involved — or why you don’t get involved.
Causes: I’ve stayed out of political causes for years. I can’t remember the last time I signed a petition for anything. However, that may change in at some point.
I do believe that each person should have a fair representation in government. Hence, that is why we elect politicians. Yet the system isn’t always perfect.
Social causes: Why do people go hungry? Why do we waste so much food, time, resources? Why do we rely on government for so much?
I spent a lot of time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in my college years. I learned a lot. I miss it and will hopefully go back someday.
Cultural: see social. I have enough of a difficult time trying to explain to my clients and students who come from overseas why not to say and do certain things in front of certain people.
The environment is my biggest cause. People have forgotten about waste not want not; reduce, reuse, recycle; that trees keep us all from suffocating to death. Enough said.
