I had a traditional autobiography from when I set up my business and this website almost three years go now. I reread it the other day and went: ugh.

My elevator speech is that I do tutoring for all ages and all subjects and writing assistance as well. Whew, just finished when the elevator door opened.

People know me from different places and different capacities. I’ve worked in the education field in various capacities over the past seventeen years. I began while in college as a peer tutor and branched out from there. My biggest accomplishments to date in teaching have been being a substitute teacher for five years, teaching ESL (English-As-A-Second Language) for eight years and now continuing privately with the business, and running an after school program for one year. I also had the opportunity to teach English in Korea for one summer many moons ago. I’ve worked with everybody from ages five and up through retirees. I’ve also worked with homeschoolers and special needs and LD populations. One of my favorite areas is Orton-Gillingham.

I began my business three years ago after going through WIBO at FSW, Inc. in Bridgeport, CT. WIBO stands for Workshop in Business Opportunities. Running a business has been a huge learning curve and also very beneficial to helping my clients because I apply a lot of what I use when I tutor and write.

Last year I became an EMT, something I’ve wanted to do since high school. Right now I volunteer with a local ambulance service.

I know I can sit here and write that I love what I do and you reading this will go: ugh. Yet I am going to say it: I love what I do. I love working one-on-one or teaching or writing. It’s not “work” for or to me in the traditional sense. Then having someone pass that test is the best part of all.

So, who am I? Come and find out.

  4. You have a very interesting life!
I agree that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.
You’d love this little place I have near me called Volo Bog. It is a rare, quaking bog that was saved before too much building happened around it. There is all kinds of neat things there that are not found elsewhere.
I look forward to reading your posts.
    Enjoy the day!
